I’m Shane — a senior software engineer at Microsoft, a Navy veteran, and someone who took the non-traditional path into tech.

I never went to college. I went to sea. After active duty, I taught myself to code and broke into the industry the hard way — no degree, no bootcamp, just stubborn curiosity and a willingness to sit with hard problems until they made sense. That approach hasn’t changed.

Today I work on the Azure Encrypted Transport team, where I’m the last remaining member of the original engineering team. I design and build infrastructure that secures traffic across Azure’s global network. I like hard problems, elegant architecture, and systems that compound value over time.

Outside of my day job, I build AI agent systems. My open source project Myelin is a knowledge graph memory system for AI agents — inspired by how the human brain consolidates memory during sleep. I believe agents should get smarter across sessions, not reset. Myelin is how I make that real.

I’m also a father, a husband, and currently building a house as my own general contractor — because apparently I don’t have enough hard problems in my life.
